the story of the place where there are more Fiat Panda than people

Pantelleria is a small Italian island which belongs to the region of Sicily. A commune that is closer to Tunis than to Sicily itself due to its proximity and that has a population of less than 7,500 inhabitants. A very peculiar place if we take into account that there is a model that is so ingrained that it even exceeds its number of inhabitants. Because on this island it is said that there are more Fiat Panda than people and the Italian brand wanted to make a docufilm to show it to the world and pay tribute to its iconic model.

The place with the highest density of Fiat Panda in the world served as the setting for shooting “Pandelleria”, a name that links the name of the model with that of the place. It was a tribute to the employees of the Giambattista Vico plant in Pomigliano d’Arco, which are the facilities where the small urban is produced. Although it is true, that it has only been done there since 2011 and that it was previously produced in other facilities. Because the Panda has been on the market for more than 40 years in which they have been soldalmost 8 million units.

In fact, thanks to these figures, the Fiat Panda can boast of being the leading urban car in Europe and the Best selling car in Italy, where he reaches a market share of 8% all by himself. So the tribute comes in the form of a 30-minute video showing 14 Pantellerian residents talking admiringly about the three generations of the model. Although they come from diverse activities, they all have a story in common with little Panda.

We are talking about a very versatile model that has contributed to helping millions of people on a daily basis. Another key is that, since its launch, it has been relatively affordable, being available to the general public. The “Pandelleria” docufil has been made by the agencies of Publicis Groupe, Leo Burnett and Publicis Sapient. It is also produced by Twister Film and directed by documentary filmmaker Giovanni Troilo. A very striking campaign and that it could only be up to a model like the Fiat Panda.
