Alex Palou went backto get on the McLaren Formula 1. the champion ofthe indy car in 2021, one of the big names in the competition, He seeks to gain a foothold in the not too distant future in a Great Circus in which little by little he is taking his first steps.
Some that have taken him directly to one of the most prestigious brands out there. like McLaren. Combining the Indy season with his work for Woking, Palou tested the orange car on the always demanding Hungaroring circuit.
In Hungary. Also in wet conditions. Despite the complexity, the Spanish pilot showed good manners and left everyone at McLaren more than happy.
He, meanwhile, has drawn his own conclusions. Some that he himself knows that they can be surprising.
“I was surprised by the adherence that the car has in the rain”, he affirms.
And he explains it: “It may be exaggerating, but driving an F1 in the rain is like driving a dry IndyCar, so the car moves.”
For now, Palou knows that F1 will have to wait. McLaren hasLando Norrisand Oscar Piastri, two young drivers with great projection, but who knows what happens to the first if the Woking team doesn’t give him a car capable of at least fighting for victories.
