EuroRAP has published a report in which it analyzes the level of risk on Spanish roads and indicates the 8 most dangerous road sections.
The authorities have always focused their efforts on reducing the accident rate on our roads by combating excessive speeds, distracted driving and the consumption of alcohol and drugs. However, there is a section that, perhaps due to its high cost, does not receive the main attention of the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT): we refer to the road conditions.
In line with this, EuroRAP (European Road Assessment Program) has just published a report in which it analyzes the road risk level that are part of the State Highway Network (RCE).
1,837 km of highly dangerous sections

Accident
According to the analysis of this European body, of the 25,100 kilometers studied in our country, 1,837 km have turned out to be sections with a high level of danger, which means 8.2 percent of the total.
EuroRAP has concluded that La Rioja, Catalonia and Asturias are the communities with the most dangerous road sections of our country. According to this report, there are 8 sections at high risk of suffering an accident that total 93 kilometers, and another 37 with medium-high risk (658 kilometers).
So, the N-634 highway, in Cantabria, between kilometer points 232.8 and 243.1, It has the “dubious” honor of being the road with the highest risk of suffering a serious accident.
The rest of the eight most dangerous sections They are located on the N-340 (Andalusia), N-345 (Murcia), N-230 (Catalonia), N-234 (Aragon), N-323 (Andalusia), N-331 (Andalusia) and the N-122 (Castile and Leon). The first two already had that consideration in the 2017-2019 triennium.

The study, in which the Royal Automobile Club of Spain (RACE) has participated, has analyzed the accident rate data between 2019 and 2021as well as its severity and its relationship with the characteristics of the road.
During this period there were 3,067 accidentsof which 967 were fatal with a balance of 1,060 deaths and 2,100 serious accidents with a balance of 2,684 serious injuries.
