The 2021 season was a tough matchup between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappenbut also between Mercedes and Red Bull. And, despite a year in which they have not met on the track, the relationship between the bosses of both teams continues to be conspicuous by its absence.
Toto Wolff, team manager at Mercedes, and Christian Horner, his counterpart at Red Bull, have never had a good relationship. However, the continuous clashes between its pilots were causing confrontations between them until they became public enemies. The accidents at Silverstone, Monza and the controversial finish in Abu Dhabi increased the tension.
And a 2022 in which the Germans have not been able to compete on the track with the energy drink team has not served to relax the atmosphere.
Wolff, in a statement collected by ‘The Times’, has expressed that Horner always has him on his mind: “I am living for free in his head. That man has an obsession with me.”
“Every second I talk about Horner is a waste of time in my life,” the Austrian said to close.
