The annual party for fans of sports Toyotas is consolidated in its second edition with the GR Yaris, GR Supra and the new GR86 as the main protagonists.
Toyota is one of the leading brands and pioneers in electrification at a global level, but it also has in mind users who demand the most sporty and fun driving sensations that a car can offer. This has been shown to us with the launch of the GR Yaris, which is quite a homologation special taken from the stages of the World Rally Championship to circulate on the street, and with the return of a new generation of Supra. Even more recently it has made a big splash on the table with the GR86 which represents the absolute purity in terms of driving: light car with naturally aspirated engine, manual and rear-wheel drive. Well, for the second consecutive year, the Japanese brand wanted to gather its most unconditional customers on the Jarama track in Madrid to guarantee one of the most pleasant days of the circuit season. With the invaluable help of the organizer 8000 laps, the Toyota GR Day 2022 It has once again been a success both in terms of attendance and participation on the track.

In addition to the clients themselves who went to exhibit and squeeze their cars on the circuit, a good representation of the specialized motoring press was summoned by the brand to accompany them on such a special day. Among them were us, who took the opportunity to test for the first time the new generation of the GR86 (Before GT86.) On paper, we are talking about a delicious and idyllic sports car for the most purists. It mounts a naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer position with a displacement of 2.4 liters that declares 234 hp at 7,000 rpm and is associated with a six-speed manual gearbox to send all the power to the rear axle. As if that were not enough, it weighs around 1,300 kg (quite contained) and its price makes it accessible to many young people as the perfect school car (just over 30,000 euros.)
The good impressions they were confirmed when we took the controls and they gave us access to the Jarama asphalt. The rear, a little playful but safe; the exquisite precision of the gear lever, an ultra-direct steering and a mechanical that turns up the turns with a formidable verve allowed us to take it to a high pace in a simple and very enjoyable way. Along with the 86, the GR Supra in all its versions and the smallest of the Gazoo Racing family gave us a track day cinema.
