Toyota sports cars have given a lot to talk about lately, especially the GR86, model that was recently re-launched in the UK and once again out of stock. Now, on this side of the pond, the Japanese brand is launching a special edition called Toyota GR86 Trueno Edition 2024, which pays homage to the original model launched in the 90’s known as GT-Apex Liftback (AE86) remember?

After four decades, the evolution had to be remarkable in both design and performance, so the Toyota GR86 was a good base to give life to the Trueno Edition which now subtly sports the colors of the house specialist, Gazoo Racing, both outside and inside the cabin:
- THUNDER side graphics
- Black hood and side mirrors
- rear wing
- Lower diffuser with double exhaust outlet
- 18″ wheels in gloss black finish
- Special edition anagrams and logos.

The sporty atmosphere in the GR86 cockpit is enriched by additions in red leather for seats and steering wheel, seams in the same tone as well as alcantara upholstery. Some switches on the dash sport satin aluminum, as do the traction control switches, one of which, by the way, is intended for track use. Other details of the special edition are:
- Gear lever with TRUENO logo
- GR power button
- Special edition plate with the number of the unit.

Regarding performance figures, the Japanese sports car retains the 232 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque generated by the 2.4-liter Boxer enginehowever, it has quite a few “toys” under the body:
- ZF Sachs nitrogen sport shock absorbers (optimize grip and ride stability)
- Brembo solid four-piston disc brakes
- automatic or manual transmission
- Active Safety system with adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and forward collision alert (manual transmission).

Toyota has confirmed that This aesthetic and performance package will be available for the “normal” version of the GR86’2022-2023 models. Finally, the Japanese firm affirms that this model will arrive next winter in the US market to which only 860 units.
