What’s going on?
As part of the celebrations for his 20th Anniversary in MexicoToyota held a Thought Forum where it presented its global vision for the future, with which it confirms its transition from an automotive company to a mobility company.

The event was attended by senior executives of the Japanese company, led by Ted Ogawa, president and CEO of Toyota Motor North America (TMNA); Chris Reynolds, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Corporate Resources for Toyota Motor North America (TMNA); Steve Basra, CEO and President of Toyota Connected North America; Chris Yang, Group Vice President, Business Development, Toyota Motor North America (TMNA); and Charan Lota, Group Vice President and Executive Chief of Connected Technologies Engineering, Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) in addition to the directors of the subsidiary in Mexico.
In relation to this new thinking about mobility, Toyota made it clear that its purposeboth in Mexico and in the world, is to generate happiness for all and that to achieve it it will be vital reduce CO2 emissions in the shortest possible time and achieve carbon neutrality through a diverse strategy that not only sees electrification as a trend, but also as a necessity to achieve it.

In this way, what the Japanese brand is looking for at a global level is to gradually integrate different technologies such as electric hybrid cars (HEV), plug-in electric hybrids (PHEV), electric cars with hydrogen-based fuel cells (FCEV) and 100% electric battery. (BEV), according to the needs of different markets.
“Carbon neutrality is our goal. For us, electrification is not a situation, it is a necessitythe way to achieve sustainable development goals that truly impact the present and future of humanity”, said Luis Lozano, president of Toyota Motor de México.
In addition, Toyota’s connectivity and mobility strategy has as a priority to go beyond manufacturing cars, it is to have a clear vision of the future under a CASE strategy: connected, autonomous, shared (shared) and electrified.

For his part, Ted Ogawa, President and CEO of Toyota Motor North America, highlighted Toyota Mexico’s contribution to the region, especially its efforts to positively impact people and their environment, highlighting its more than 1.3 million vehicles sold and the more than 97 thousand electric hybrids sold in the country since 2010.
“This celebration is not only for the presence of 20 years of Toyota in Mexico, it also celebrates its commitment to the country, to build a better future involving innovative solutions for people and the environment.”, added the president and CEO of TMNA.
In addition, the dialogue originated in this Thought Forum was extended to important industry stakeholders such as associates, distributors, strategic partners, the media, opinion leaders, academics, associations and government representatives, including the Governor of Guanajuato , Diego Sinhue Rodríguez, and José Zozaya, executive president of AMIA, who actively participated in how to face the challenges that lie ahead for the automotive industry, but also for the Japanese company, how to achieve a sustainable network for vehicles electricity, achieve more incentives for the adoption of this type of car, promote access to renewable energies and support investments focused on their production.

Finally, the five presidents of the brand in the US and Mexico showed the vision of Toyota’s leadership in Mexico for the next 20 years, where Guillermo Díaz, Alex Kuntzy, Óscar Quijada and Francisco García highlighted the relevance of each of the processes of the value chain to buy, manufacture, export, distribute, market and finance increasingly better cars in Mexico.
In this way, Toyota will continue betting on innovation with a diverse, inclusive, sustainable vision that has a positive impact on society, because for Toyota the future is today.
