Such programs include training, education, and initiatives to ensure that services such as schools, health centers, and water and sanitation facilities are resilient to climate and environmental shocks.
Formula E and UNICEF have announced that their innovative partnership has today benefited more than 2.5 million children and young people around the world since it began in 2021.
It is the first sport in the world with certification of net zero carbon emissions since its creation, it has been the first international sports organization to partner with UNICEF to address climate change.
Through investment in UNICEF climate programs as part of the Safe and Healthy Environment Fund, the collaboration is focused on helping to create a planet where all children can live in a safe, clean and sustainable environment.

This is achieved by ensuring that the services children depend on – such as education and health care – are resilient and that young people are empowered by acquiring the knowledge and skills to act against climate change.
Examples of localized initiatives funded by the association include bespoke climate change educational training in the Caribbean for over 50,000 people, as well as recruitment and rainwater purification in schools in three Mexican states positively impacting more than 17,000 students and their local towns.
UNICEF’s Safe and Healthy Environment Fund had a positive impact on more than 1.8 million children and youth in the first full year of partnership with Formula E in 2022.

The Formula E and UNICEF partnership contributes to UNICEF’s climate work for children and supports holistic climate programs around the world. Funding from Formula E contributes to UNICEF’s global climate programmes, which include innovative programs ranging from converting plastic waste or installing solar panels in places like schools; and the training of local manufacturers to make ecological kitchens.

“We are proud to see that our partnership with UNICEF is having a powerful and significant impact on children and young people around the world. As leaders in sustainability, we not only want to protect the planet, but also its inhabitants. With a billion children already at extreme risk from the effects of climate change, we need to make sure they get the best possible support., as well as the proper education as they grow up. They will be the ones to inherit the world and influence change, so we are happy to be involved in their education and invest in their communities.”
