In an era dominated by SUVs and crossovers, it’s odd that Volkswagen didn’t bring us back the 1989 Golf Country, which although produced by Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Austria, was officially a Volkswagen product. However, the German tuning specialists Delta 4×4 beat them to it.
What’s happening?
Delta 4×4 brings us a digital tuning job done on the powerful Golf R, which consisted of turning it into a crossover.
The final product made, although it exists in the digital world, could be made in the real world, if there are many interested in acquiring it, Delta 4×4 would produce a limited number of 25 units. The conversion work would take about six to nine months and it would cost $38,000 plus the price of the Golf R.
In what this happens, we have to say that this Golf R crossover looks impressive and very striking. Let’s see what it has and what modifications Delta 4×4 made to it.
- It maintains the integral 4Motion system.
- Under the hood we find the engine of 2.0 L turbocharged, generating 315 Hp and 329 Hp depending on the version.
- The height of the chassis to the floor was altered, now it is 8 cm higher, thanks to a new suspension kit. Although this compromises the Golf R’s maneuverability, it allows it to go through any terrain.
- It sports 18” Hanma wheels with all-terrain tires.
- It has new fenders that perfectly cover the tires on the axles and make the car look wider.
- in the chest Five PIAA-branded LED lights were added.
- A cargo rack was placed on the roof to carry anything you want.
- The rest of the vehicle remains intact, including the original Golf R aerodynamics.
