The segment of the girls pickups has undergone a quite radical change, In general terms, the two-door versions (and even three on the Strada) are being replaced by four-door bodies.
Although even the little Strada evolved towards the style of the so-called SUP (mix of pickup with SUV) there is still a representative of the old school: Volkswagen Saveiro, model is already preparing its update.
Volkswagen Saveiro, renewal on a known base
Although Volkswagen has been playing with a small SUV-style pickup for a long time based on the MQB platform as used in Polo, Virtus, Nivus and T-Cross, the Saveiro will only be limited to updating the aesthetics to become familiar with these models.
Recent spy photos allow us to see that the main change will be in the front where Nivus-style headlights will be seen with part of the grill invading the lower part of the headlights. Obviously, there will be changes to the grill and fenders to accompany the new aesthetics including the LEDs vertical at the lower ends.
Regarding the mechanics, in addition to being the latest model based on the extinct Gol Trend, it will retain the mechanics 1.6 L MSi 16V and 5-speed manual gearbox.
When does the renewal of Saveiro arrive?
In Brazil, where it is produced, they point out that by the end of 2023. Most likely, we will see it in Mexico in mid-2024, if Volkswagen de México does not decide otherwise. Will there be a next generation? Let’s hope so, but if it does happen, we’ll have to wait a long time.
Do you think Saveiro should take the generational leap now?
