Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance: News
As part of a series of announcements made by the alliance Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishiit was revealed that the rhombus signature will produce a vehicle in Mexico – after not doing so for two decades – by the hand of Nissan in one of the gigantic complexes that the Japanese brand has in Aguascalientes. Also a new van will be manufactured in Argentinathe development that will be shared with nissan and that will be carried out in the Cordovan plant of Saint Elizabeth.
In addition to what was stipulated for Latin America, the Alliance presented a set of projects for Indiaone of the main emerging markets in the world, so they could soon make a dent in our region:
- Development of various new vehiclesincluding SUVsshared by Renault and Nissan
- new nissan modelderived from the Renault Triber
Finally, the Alliance also unveiled a series of plans for Europe (focused on electric mobility and new technologies), and reconfirmed the new distribution of company shares, mainly between Renault and Nissan.
The novelty took place in what was the presentation of an interesting number of projects of the Alliance for much of the world market. With the objective of “maximize value creation for all Alliance stakeholders”as signed by the pertinent communiqué, plans were established to Latin America, India and Europe.
Renault-Nissan and its new pick-up

As far as our region is concerned, it is worth remembering that months ago it was unofficially reported that Renault was working on a investment project of more than 300 million dollars for its plant in Santa Isabel (Argentina). Although at that time, sources from the Government of that country (who announced the novelty), assured that the objective was to manufacture the Oroch, the life cycle of the product and the entire process involved in producing a new vehicle invited us to think that it could be his new generation.
The Alliance’s recent announcement mentions the production of a “new half-ton pick-up (carrying capacity)” in Latin America, hand in hand with Renault and shared with Nissan, which invites us to continue believing that it is about manufacturing the new Oroch (or its successor) in Argentina, a development from which the Japanese firm would benefit from his own version of the truck. For now, there is no production or launch date.
In addition to the brand new pick-up, the Alliance announced that it will continue the collaboration involving the Renault Alaskan and the Nissan Navara -which is not feasible to see in the Mexican market- both manufactured in Santa Isabel. In this sense, it was stated that the Renault Group will continue production there.
Finally, Renault and Nissan will market two urban electric vehicles in Latin America, based on the CMF-AEV platform. While no further information was given, one of the models could be the Kwid E-Tech, which we met in Brazil last year. that it is very possible we will see in the Mexican market in the coming months.
Finally, the Alliance also unveiled a series of plans for Europe (focused on electric mobility and new technologies), and reconfirmed the new distribution of company shares, mainly between Renault and Nissan.
