Ferrari has a lot of work ahead of it. He has it seeing how 2022 ended, and also because they have not managed to win any title in Formula 1 since 2007 in terms of drivers and since 2008 in terms of constructors. Three decades, 15 years without anything would be too many, and the truth is that the words of Frederic Vasseur, his new great boss, do not invite much optimism to Carlos Sainz and for Charles Leclerc.
Because they need power. More power. More to be able to beat Red Bull and Mercedes. So that the beginning of last year does not remain only in five or six races and they are maintained over time. But, for the moment, what promised a lot has turned out to be, in the words of the French, “a joke”.
“I don’t know where those numbers come from, but it’s a joke” Frederic Vasseur said.
What numbers are you referring to? To those who said that the Ferrari engine was going to have 30 more horsepower in 2023. Something that, according to the head of the Maranello team, it’s a prank”.
“The reality is that when stepping on the circuit it is something different. Certain bounce problemse last year”, said Vasseur in statements that included ‘SoyMotor.com’.
Of course, the good news goes in another direction: “For now, everything It’s doing well in terms of reliability.”
It was something that cost Ferrari dearly in certain races when they were superior to Red Bull, with a Leclerc and a Sainz who had some dropouts when they had a lot of points in their respective pockets.
Then they not only fell to Red Bull but also against Mercedes… something that increases the challenges facing 2023 for a team that has not won for too long.
