‘El silencio’ is the new Netflix thriller starring Arón Piper in the role of Sergio Ciscar. The Serie follows a young man who is released from a detention center six years after murdering his parents being a minor. The series begins, in fact, with the crime and we see how the parents end up on the street after falling off the balcony of the family apartment. Gabilondo explains the choice of a parricide because he assures that “they have always horrified and attracted him in equal parts crimes committed by children or young people, by minors”. There are many cases that have caught his attention such as “the young people in the United Kingdom who killed a baby, the case of Marta del Castillo or the one known as the crime of the katana”.
In the case of Sergio, going back to the new Netflix series, despite the sentence there are many questions about what happened that night in which he and his adoptive sister Noa were orphaned. And it is that since that day Sergio has not spoken again, only does it with some people. A silence that, instead of being an interpretive challenge for Arón Piper, is “a great satisfaction for him”. “I love that he is silent because as an actor it is a very powerful tool. Everything that is said without saying it has not been a challenge but a satisfaction,” he explains.
Leaving prison before completing the entire sentence for good behavior will not be completely free. The young psychiatrist Ana Dussel leads a team willing to find answers and to know the motives and intentions that led him to commit the terrible crime, if he did. They must evaluate if it can happen again and if it is a danger to society and for that they set up a operative who watches the ex-convict day and night without him knowing and as if he were an animal in a zoo.

A psychologist who detects violent reactions in her teenage son and tries to control it. SErgio then becomes an object of study for her, instead of her son.. “Sergio has been influenced or manipulated by his mother and, therefore, the mixture of this with a birth disorder has “fatal consequences”, says Piper. “Sergio is angry with his environment, with society because he thinks he is a victim and In a way, it is.”
Victim or executioner, Sergio tries to get ahead, lead a normal life while being scrutinized to see if he can be reintegrated in society. Gabilondo explains that he has been able to “talk to people who have remade his life after a crime and only his parents and his partner know what happened, so they constantly live in fear of being discovered.”
