For the first time in three years, Marc Márquez is 100% from the first race to start the season of MotoGP. And his return makes him the favorite, at least for his brother Alex.
The youngest of the Márquez family is facing an exciting new project in the Gresini with a Ducati, after two hard years with the difficult Honda, and this was confirmed in the presentation of the team that they have made in streaming for all motorcycling fans.
In the presentation, Álex showed his joy at belonging to the Italian team: “I am in a team with a lot of history and in a great family. I am looking forward to going to the test in Malaysia and testing the new bike. In Valencia I was already able to ride one day and, although it is difficult to draw conclusions in such a short time, it is seen that the potential is there“.
When it was time for questions, the new Gresini driver had to answer questions about his brother, Marc Márquez, and his physical condition in training: “Training has been like every year. We always enjoy training together and Marc is fast in everything we do, which is good for me. We are riders with different motorcycles, but we are also brothers and we know how to differentiate”.
And when assessing his chances of returning to the top, Álex did not doubt his brother’s ability: “It is true that Ducati comes from a great year and Honda from a very difficult one, but we all started with zero points. Marc we already know that he is the best driver on the grid, it is so. So of course it will be the favorite for this year. I’ve seen him training a lot.”
With confirmation from his brother that Marc Márquez is in good physical condition, the ball is now in Honda’s court. February 23 is the date chosen by Repsol Honda to present its new motorcycle, although we will have to wait until the first race in Portimao, on March 26, to see at what point of performance each brand is.
