Aston Martin, a perfect ‘hybrid’ between Red Bull and Mercedes for Fernando Alonso

Aston Martin, a perfect ‘hybrid’ between Red Bull and Mercedes for Fernando Alonso

It is not usual to see Formula 1 that a customer team take the lead over the factory team, but this season we could attend a surprising ‘sorpasso’ of Aston Martin to Mercedes.

So much Toto Wolff como Mike Elliottthe ‘big shots’ of the star brand, do not hide that those from Silverstone have started a step ahead.

But why? How is it possible that Aston Martin is faster than Mercedes if Lewis Hamilton’s team supplies the engines?

Simple: it is the effect of the salad of ‘gurus’ that the green team has put together. On the one hand, Dan Fallows (ex-Red Bull); for another, Eric Blandin (formerly of Mercedes).

The result of this symbiosis has been a hybrid AM23 between the two great teams. Aston Martin has taken the concept of the front end those of energy drinks to obtain a lower car with no bounce.

On the other hand, it has rear end of mercedes (gearbox, engine and suspension), which gives them a greater reliability and stability.

This leads to what was seen in the tests: Aston Martin is faster than Ferrari and Mercedes in curvesbut loses time on straight lines.

According to ‘AMuS’, if Mercedes chose to ‘copy’ the Red Bull front end, having the concept of a single-seater without pontoons, it would split in two.

Of this, Aston Martin seems to have combined the strengths of Red Bull and Mercedes, also taking details of the Ferrari. Of course, the car that we will see in November It will be far from what has been seen now in Bahrain.
