I’ll start this little note by quoting the lyrics of a colleague who once wrote about this model: “If the devil had a car, it would definitely be a Dodge Viper.”
It was not about its malevolent appearance, it was actually because of everything that it transmitted sensorially speaking, when driving it, because perhaps the Dodge Viper was one of the most “pure” cars that Dodge has created and unfortunately, today it is a memory of which only a few vestiges remain in the world.
The United States is the right place to find almost any model, but speaking of the “American school”, things are very serious, especially when it comes to building cars for drag races whether legal or illegal. This is where the people from Calvo Motorsports come into the picture, a garage specialized in tuning Vipers to suit the customer.
Recently, these Austin, Tx. added a pair of 88mm Garrett twin turbos to the V10 of a Viper, and although they do not reveal the series of extra modifications that are necessarily required to achieve enormous power, they did leave evidence of the power thrown on the Goobers Garage dyno and here is the proof:
3,317 Hp with a whopping 2,307 Lb-ft of torque to the wheels was the reading this Viper gave the “Dyno”. That’s more than if we added the power of five McLaren 720S or four Ferrari SF90 Stradeles!
Of the times set in the quarter mile, nothing to say, well other Dodge Vipers prepared for drag racing with the same twin-turbo recipe have been known to “break” the 405 meters registering 6.6 seconds at a speed of 350 km/h.
