The BMW i Vision Dee that the brand has presented at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023 in Las Vegas advances details that we will see in the Neue Klasse models. This is the name chosen for the next generation of BMW electric cars, which will be a saloon and a D-segment SUV (presumably called the BMW i3 and iX3), on sale in 2025.
The name BMW i Vision Dee comes from “Digital Emotional Experience” and, of course, focuses on digital functions. It stands out, for example, the Head-Up Display that extends throughout the windshield and that BMW ensures that we will see them in the Neue Klasse.
In combination with this Head-up Display works the BMW Mixed Reality Slideran element that offers analogue content, information related to driving, communications system content, augmented reality projection and even entry into virtual worlds.
The exterior of the vehicle is also carried over to the interior with welcoming graphics and light and sound effects. Stresses that the headlights and the closed kidney grill form a common icon phygital (fusion of the physical and the digital) on a uniform surface, which allows the vehicle to produce different facial expressions, to express moods… Also project an image of the driver’s avatar on the side window. As if that were not enough, there is the e ink technology that we saw in the BMW iX Flow, with which the car can change color… there are up to 32 options.
Otherwise, the BMW i Vision Dee features a classic three-volume saloon design with traditional elements such as the BMW kidney grille, twin circular headlamps, and the Hofmeister curve (with digital icons instead of analog ones). Inside, minimalism is maximum. The steering wheel is very curious, with a central vertical radius and tactile points that come to life when approached.
Obviously, not all these advances will reach the Neue Klasse models, of which we will know more details throughout 2023.
