At BMW they bet on special editions, even those models that seemed like they couldn’t get any better. We have the perfect example with the BMW M4 CSL, an ode to performance that has sought reduce weight and maximize performance. Now they take the same formula to another body, something that many fans will surely appreciate. The most exciting saloon in the compact family is the new BMW M3 CSa beast that receives a series of very important modifications.
It starts from an already very prominent base such as the BMW M3, with whom it shares most of the elements. That includes the 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six engine, although a lot of work has been done on its development. There are tweaks to its cylinder head, it receives a lightweight forged crankshaft, changes the oil supply system and increases the boost pressure of the turbo. All in order to increase its power until it reaches the 550 hp and 650 Nm of torque, an increase of 40 CV compared to the M3 Competition. With these changes, the benefits also reach another level.
The new BMW M3 CS is capable of accelerating 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, from 0 to 200 km/h in 11 seconds and has a recovery from 80 to 120 km/h in 2.6 seconds. Also, as it comes with the M Driver package as standard, its top speed is 302 km/h. Maintains M xDrive all-wheel drive and automatic transmission M Steptronic eight-speed with Drivelogic. Also the active M differential on the rear axle to ensure exemplary behaviour. It goes without saying that, as in other M models, 4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD modes appear to unleash the propulsion.
The BMW M3 CS also features some specific settings for the version that influence the DSC and its M Dynamic mode. In addition, the electronically controlled dampers improve its response on the track and it comes with new equipment as standard. It includes M Compound brakes, although M carbon-ceramics are optionally offered. They will be seen through the forged M wheels in a gold (or matte black) finish in a 19-inch front and 20-inch rear size.
To lighten its weight, a useextensive carbon fiber in your bodywork. The light and resistant material is present in the roof, hood, front splitter, front air intakes, mirrors, diffuser and rear spoiler. It also includes a titanium exhaust system that reduces weight by 4 kg. The total amount makes me lose 20 kg compared to the standard M3. At the design level, the CS is also distinguished from the rest by the exclusive paint Frozen Solid White (also available in Signal Green, brooklyn gray either Sapphire Black), by contour lines in red, emblems or BMW laser headlights in yellow.
The interior is not far behind and offers a truly sporty atmosphere. The main culprits are carbon fiber M bucket seats specific. They have electrical adjustments and heating, in addition to having the illuminated badge and receiving Merino leather upholstery with contrasting stitching. It goes with him M Alcantara steering wheel with paddle shifters in CFRP and with the inscription M3 CS at various points in the passenger compartment. There is also a Setup button on the center console for direct access to driving functions.
