The chevrolet traxe withdrew from the Mexican market in 2020, being replaced by Tracker. And when we assumed that the story of this model would not continue, at the end of last year, we were really surprised when General Motors confirmed that the seeker, would reach the American continent imported directly from South Korea under the identity of Trax. PLuckily, on the same day of his international debut, his arrival in Mexico was confirmed.
Since then we have been looking forward to the official launch of this SUV in our market. And finally after a couple of months, Finally the new Chevrolet Trax 2024 is presented in Mexico. Of course autocosmos attended its official unveiling in León, Guanajuato and we share our first contact with this model that, from now on, I’ll tell you in advance, left us pleasantly surprised. Let’s know all the details below:
2024 Chevrolet Trax: Design
Aesthetically, the new Trax has little to do with the previous model. Of that simple SUV that competed in the B segment, nothing remains, beyond the Chevrolet logo and the name of the model. Now, we are facing a mini Blazer that is frankly one of the most attractive in the segment.
Although the inspiration in her older sister is evident, she has her own personality. In fact, each version has its own aesthetic elements. I will explain it from more to less. In RS, the grill, rear-view mirrors, roof rack and logos in black stand out. The RS badges cannot be missing at the front of the vehicle. The wheels are 18-inch machined.
In the LT version, the dark roof bars remain, but the grill is now chromed and in the lower part of the fascia we will find a satin-finish plastic. The wheels are two-tone, but 17 inches. Finally, in the LS access variant, the bars and wheels disappear, although they are still 17-inch aluminum, they are simple in design.
Chevrolet Trax 2024: Interior and equipment
Like the exterior, we find some outstanding differentiating elements. For example, on the LS version the cluster is 3.5 inches, while on the LT and RS it is 8 inches. Regarding the main screen, in RS and LT it is 11 inches, while in LS it is eight.. Also not to forget that the rear USB ports are exclusive to the LT and RS.
During this first contact, the unit that was assigned to us corresponds to the RS finish, which adds leather trim with an embroidered RS logo on the headboard. As well as a leather-wrapped steering wheel and RS-engraved inserts on the dashboard. By the way, like the GM habit of only having two later headers, it returns on this Trax.
The interior design is very purposeful and dynamic. In general, everything is at hand. The only drawback would be that the turn signal button is a bit far from the driver. The quality of materials in general is positive considering the segment. Leather inserts are an added bonus, which is backed by piano black and aluminum inserts. Plastics in general are hard, but quality. Only the door panels come to detract from the experience on board.
The technological section is one of the strengths of this Trax. In terms of security we have Wireless Phone Projection with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Its operation and coupling is the best. The inductive charger cannot be missing either.
Now in terms of safety, we have six airbags, brakes with ABS, stability control, reversing camera and tire pressure monitor. But that’s not all, since all versions also add the Chevy Safety Assist suite, made up of technologies such as:

- Front Pedestrian Brake
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Lane Departure Alert
- Forward Collision Alert
- Intellibeam headlights
- Next Distance Indicator
By the way, speaking of dimensions and capacities. This 4,537mm-long SUV is 11″ longer and 2″ wider than the previous Trax. While the trunk is 414 liters expandable up to 1,405 liters.
2024 Chevrolet Trax: Engine and Handling
Regardless of version, Under the hood of the 2024 Trax we find a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine rated at 137 hp and 162 pound-feet of torque. Same that is combined with a six-speed automatic transmission. If this engine sounds familiar to you, it’s basically the same one that’s mounted on the Tracker, only with 7 extra horsepower, but the main gain is 22 pound-feet of torque.
In urban environments, this engine boasts adequate performance and even feels relatively agile when accelerating from full coast. It is clear to me that its best environment is the cities, since it shows that this was the point of focus of the engineers at the time of carrying out the set-up.
Now on the road, the performance, although not surprising, does not disappoint either. What’s more, he catalogs, only as compliant. Although acceleration is progressive, after 110 km/h it takes a little longer than expected to gain speed, even when we press the accelerator pedal fully. Ok, I insist, it is not bad, but the dynamic performance does not match the sporty image.
Now this is not to say that it is not capable of maintaining cruising speeds of 140 km/h-150 km/h relatively calmly. Likewise, the feeling of stability, soundproofing and the action of the suspension are very good. The truth is that passengers ride comfortably no matter the speed or how rough the road is.
Chevrolet announces a combined consumption of up to 17.6 km/l. It will be until we have the opportunity to test it thoroughly and submit it to our traditional consumer test when we will revalidate this figure or not.

Imported directly from South Korea, the new 2024 Chevrolet Trax gets to compete against Honda HR-V, Volkswagen Taos, Mazda CX-30, SEAT Ateca, Toyota Corolla Cross, Omoda C5, among others. Undoubtedly, its main strengths are design, a great technological endowment for both safety and comfort, as well as good handling and a propellant that, although it feels somewhat fair, promises good fuel consumption.
