Aston Martin has restructured its Formula 1 team for this season, in which it arrived Fernando Alonso and they could not have started on a better footing: podium at the Bahrain Grand Prix, only behind the Red Bull of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.
Toto Wolffhead of Mercedes, has praised the “really good” work of Aston Martin, although he wanted to remember that he has been signing “a Red Bull man”, specifically Dan Fallows.
“They hired a man from Red Bull who has managed to get the car off suddenly two seconds faster. A year ago they were 17th and 19th in classification”, he expressed in the Austrian media ‘OE24’.
On the other hand, he wanted to emphasize that the Aston Martin is also fast in the hands of Lance Stroll. Something that has even more merit considering that the Canadian had been operated on both wrists just ten days ago.
“We knew Alonso was strong and motivated, but even Stroll was in front with two broken hands and a broken toe. That shows how good the car is,” Wolff said.
Fallows’ presence at Aston Martin has been much talked about. He too supposed resemblance to Red Bull. Even Checo Pérez affirmed after being second in Bahrain that he had “three Red Bulls on the podium”. Something that caused Alonso to laugh.
