Paolo CiabattiDucati boss, has ruled out the signing of Marc Márquez for his team in the coming years. The difficult situation of the Spaniard at Honda has raised rumors about a possible exit and a destination in MotoGP that at the moment seems complicated.
Ciabatti, in statements to ‘Motorsport’, has revealed that Márquez already had his chance to sign for Ducati in the past, but that the circumstances did not arise: “The moment for Marc to sign for Ducati it was a few years agoNow it’s not.”
“We already have enough drivers who want to get to the official team, to think about signing him. Obviously, if he calls us tomorrow to ask for a meeting we will not hang up the phone“, has expressed the Italian.
He values his champion, Pecco Bagnaia, whom he qualifies as an “extraterrestrial”: “Only one won the World Cup, leading more than 270 laps, with more than 200 ahead of the second, who was Fabio Quartararo. Never say never, but Márquez is 30 years old and we have pilots five and six years younger, with room for growth”.
After fully recovering from his right arm injury, Márquez could now face a very difficult 2023 due to the performance of his Honda. Neither in Valencia nor in Sepang the bike was competitive. Only Portimao remains as the last litmus test before the MotoGP championship starts.
