The Formula 1 He always tries to innovate his format to attract more viewers and to have more excitement during the sessions. The last one was the introduction of the format to the sprint, but in the Hungarian Grand Prix will debut a new format classification.
This format was already planned from the beginning of the season to premiere at the Imola Grand Prix, but its cancellation caused it to be postponed to the race hosted by the Hungaroring.
It is an experiment that will only be carried out in Hungary and Monza as it remains experimental. The result of these two races will be decided for the future, but in the rest of the 2023 grand prix the qualifying format will continue to be the usual one.
The new format consists of forcing teams and drivers to use an composed in each qualifying sessionthat is, in Q1 will use the hard (they have 3 for the whole weekend), in Q2 the middle (they have 4) and in Q3 the soft (they have 4).
With this new format, the aim is to reduce the number of compounds used per race, which in these two weekends will be reduced from the usual 13 tires to 11. An experiment that, for the moment, the riders do not like very much, but that they will have to perform in Hungary.
