Aston Martin, the envy of an Alpine that already gives up

As the weeks go by, and not just for the (big) fact that Fernando Alonso has added four podiums in five races, the success of the two-time world champion of Formula 1 leaving Alpine.

In the Enstone brand they only exude bad news. In the first five Grands Prix of the season they have barely added 14 points between Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gaslywhile only the Asturian accumulates 75 units.

Furthermore, the dome of Alpine is faced. Given the bad start to the year, both laurent rossiCEO of the team, as otmar szafnauerthe boss, different ‘darts’ have been thrown who realize that the relationship between the two is not going through its best moment.

As if that were not enough, the Romanian has added fuel to the fire by setting an example to Aston Martina team that a priori would be their direct rival… but that has passed them on the right and without intermittent.

Otmar has highlighted the signings of the green team in statements to ‘RacingNews365’: “Aston hired a lot of people from Red Bull and Mercedes, many of them, not just the two you know, Dan Fallows and Eric Blandin“.

He also talks about Red Bull because of its enormous structure: Red Bull has 50 people, we are at 38 and we want to grow to 45. So we have spots for seven or eight experienced aerodynamicists who can help.”

The 100 race plan

With Fernando Alonso in the team, Alpine He put forward a plan of 100 races to win in F1… but in terms of infrastructure they don’t seem to be on par.

“When the 100-race plan happened, we also put together a plan for the infrastructure that we needed, the skills that we needed,” he explains.

“We’re trying to get the infrastructure, and part of what you need, has to do with the tools, the software tools, so you must get the people who have the right tools“he points out.

“We still have 75 races, I’ve stopped counting, but it’s around 75, so if we have 25 a year, that’s three years, so there are about three and a half years left“, Add.

For this reason, Alpine gives up, at least, until 2026: “Within those three and a half years, we will get a new simulator, a new simulation boss; These are things that will come and when they do come, we will take those steps.”
