Future Sony Honda cars could have the PlayStation 5 built-in

The creation of Sony Honda Mobility opened up new possibilities in the automotive sector. The company resulting from the union of the two Japanese giants announced that I would focus on electrical and that their first car would see the light of day in 2026. They also announced that infotainment would be one of their priorities, with the technology firm behind that part. And that could translate into Sony Honda could bring the PlayStation 5 incorporated, a differential factor with respect to the competition.

These vehicles aim to become authentic technological showcases and the possibility of integrating the real world with the virtual one had already been advanced in a statement. So the incorporation of a game console is not unreasonable. Sources close to Sony Honda Mobility claim that technically it is possible and it would adapt to that philosophy of being a benchmark in services and entertainment. In addition, it is not the first time that something similar has been done.

Without going any further, the Honda e has HDMI port that allowed you to plug in the Super Nintendo and play while the car was recharging. In this case, we assume that there would be a system to improve the integration of the PlayStation 5. One could even go further and use the car’s own steering wheel as a control (while stationary), something that BMW has already proposed through virtual reality. Others must also be taken into account security implicationsbecause you should only play with the parked vehicle and investigations have been opened against Tesla in this regard.

The thing is that we are talking about the medium term, with Sony Honda Mobility also wanting to enter the technology of the autonomous driving. In this case, introducing video games in cars would make more sense, since the vehicle would have to be converted into a more suitable space for other activities. Nevertheless, that technologyseems not to take off despite having been on the scene for many years. Legal limitations and other issues make the autonomous car still a utopia. We will see what solution the Japanese propose so that we can see the PlayStation 5 in their vehicles.
