For this reason, the brand is reconfiguring its plant in Michigan, which until now has been producing the Bolt, to manufacture two pick-ups there, the GMC Sierra and the Chevrolet Silverado.

But now, during an interview, the GM CEO, Mary Barra, said the brand will resort toNames known for its third generation of electric vehicles. And of course, Bolt knew how to make an important name among the electric ones, and this is how Barra refers to the matter: “We are taking advantage of the names of our vehicles that are well understood and known in the industry. Bolt has built up a lot of loyalty and fairness. So I can’t say more because I don’t talk about future product programs. But, you know, discontinuing it was mostly a move from 2nd gen to 3rd gen, but that is an important vehicle in our portfolio.”
Production of the current generation of the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV will end at the end of 2023, and as we said, its place in the production line will be taken by the Silverado EV. But apparently, the Bolt still has a way to go. Meanwhile, Chevrolet will launch several new electric vehicles later this year based on the Ultium platform, including the Silverado EV, Blazer EV, and Equinox EV.
