countdown to goodbye Mike Schumacher to Formula 1. The very young German has only two races left at the wheel of the Haas. He will not be in competition in 2023 despite the fact that he was considered by many to be one of the great promises of the motor world.
Haas has done everything possible not to renew him and find a replacement for him. And so it has been. Although it is not official yet. The team has closed Nico Hulkenberg as a companion of Kevin Magnussen for the next season. This closes a soap opera that has been plagued by poisonous messages towards Mick.
Gene Haasowner of the North American team, has launched various warnings in statements to ‘AP’: “We need Mick to score points and we are trying to give him as much time as possible to see what he can do.”
“I think Mick has a lot of potential, but you know he costs a fortune and he’s wrecked a lot of cars that cost us a lot of money that we just don’t have,” said the de Haas man. Making it clear that they would look for any alternative before renewing Schumacher.
There are several pilots that have sounded. Some as Daniel Ricciardo They have even received a public offer. The Australian rejected it and everything indicates that will sign with Mercedes to be third driver behind Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
Hulkenberg speaks
Hülkenberg has spoken about these rumors that place him in Haas: “In the end, it is not my decision. The negotiations are still ongoing and I am relatively optimistic. You have to have a little more patience.”
Why Hulkenberg? Because his position is covered. This year he is working as a reserve driver for Aston Martin, but from 2023 that position will be filled Stoffel Vandoorne.
Brazil and Abu Dhabi are the two appointments that remain in the current season of Formula 1. Haas has still not officially announced what his decision is, but it seems clear that Shumacher does not enter his plans and Hülkenberg does.
