Since Aston Martin announced the signing of Fernando Alonsobut especially after seeing its performance with the new AMR23 in the pre-season tests Formula 1the illusion with the Asturian is through the roof.
At last, for a decade, the two-time F1 world champion will have a car with which to fight with the ‘giants’ on the grid, bid for podiums and, why not, peek into the race for the World Cup.
In the ‘Vamos sobre ruedas’ program of ‘Movistar’, Alonso explained the “ambition” that Aston Martin exudes after hiring the “gurus” Dan Fallows and Eric Blandin.
“I am excited about Aston Martin. There is a lot of talent, They have signed a lot of people from Red Bull, Mercedes… there you can see the ambition they have,” he said.
“After results are achieved or not… Formula 1 is not pure mathematics,” he added.
Fernando sees Aston Martin as “a long-term championship-winning team”but he is aware that his age is a handicap: “I don’t have unlimited time, I’m not 20 years old… but hopefully I can win a championship with Aston Martin.”
Finally, he analyzed his prospects for the coming years… and they are quite consistent with Aston Martin’s plans to be a strong candidate for the World Cup.
