Now with Red Bull and in the future, perhaps, again with McLaren. That could be the road map of Sling as a Formula 1 driver. The return to a union that caused the sudden withdrawal of Fernando Alonso of the Great Circus
As reported by ‘The Race’, there has already been a first contact between McLaren and Honda for the season 2026when the new competition regulations come into force.
Currently, Honda continues to work with Red Bull and they have been champions again (in 2021 and 2022 with max verstappen). But that union will end when Ford co-invests in the motorist of the energy drink team.
Honda left to return a year later with Red Bull. He now loses a position again that he could recover in McLaren between 2026 and 2030.
Alonso’s worst memory
Alonso became a driver for McLaren-Honda in the winter of 2014 after leaving Ferrari. It seemed like a union destined to achieve great results in Formula 1, but it ended up being a total disappointment. A car that broke down almost in every race and could barely fight to score a few points.
In 2017 the union between both brands ended. McLaren joined Renault and underwent a considerable improvement in the competition. But it was not enough to convince Alonso, who at the end of 2018 announced his departure from F1 to participate in other competitions.
