Millions of people working from home turned out to have Zoom fatigue

Stanford University research has revealed that millions of people working from home have "Zoom fatigue". The fatigue caused by Zoom, an online video meeting program, puts the person in much more stress than a real-life meeting due to “overload”. The director of the Stanford Virtual Human Interaction Lab, who conducted the research, Prof. Jeremy Bailenson lists the causes of fatigue as "looking too closely at the screen" and "focusing a lot more on your own image". Zoom is stressful by forcing users to observe their own reactions like never before.

DIMMING THE SOLUTION SCREEN

Prof. Jeremy Bailenson offers simple solutions to reduce online meeting stress. For example, the person closing the window on the screen or reducing the focus by making the screen image smaller. Most Zoom meetings are conducted as phone calls.
