The Government of Pedro Sánchez has just approved the 15% deduction in personal income tax, on a maximum of 20,000 euros, when buying a zero-emission car. We tell you what this new measure is about and how long you can take advantage of it.

In theory, the Moves III Plan looked very good for those interested in switching to sustainable mobility or for those who wanted to renovate their low-emission garage. Government discounts of up to 7,000 euros facilitated access to a technology whose main handicap is about still prohibitive prices in most of the offer (only the new Chinese car brands have managed to reduce the impact a bit…) However, the communities and the bureaucracy have ensured that, in practice, being able to benefit from these aids becomes more well on an impossible mission. To try to compensate, the Executive has just approved a 15% deduction in personal income tax for the purchase of an electric car over a maximum of 20,000 euros. Therefore, we are talking about the real discount being 3,000 euros.

France will only encourage the purchase of electric vehicles made in Europe: will more countries copy it?

You will have to advance the money…

This measure, which will be maintained until the end of 2024 (it could even be extended for another year), it will immediately enter the BOE to begin to be valid as of now. Of course, users will take time to receive the money and, in the meantime, they must advance it, since said tax relief will be reflected in the declaration of the year after the purchase of the car. Forcing things, there could even be someone who would have to wait almost two years if, as the colleagues of The worldthe vehicle is acquired in January 2024 and the declaration is not settled until the end of 2025.

“With this maneuver we seek to encourage the green transition that we must face to stop the climate emergency and improve sustainable mobility,” says the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez. We will see if it finally represents some stimulus in the next registrations of electric vehicles, but the truth is that, to this day, 3,000 euros do not end up being a great help for those who are behind a 100% electric version… not even for those looking for a model with a high level of electrification and a combustion engine.
