One of the most interesting options in the large SUV segment is the Peugeot 5008, offering good interior space, modularity and plenty of comfort. One of the drawbacks of this model, on sale since 2021, was not having versions with the ECO or Zero sticker (the plug-in hybrid mechanics is exclusive to the 3008 as it is incompatible with the 7 seats). Until now. And it is already available Peugeot 5008 Hybridfrom 39,740 euros (about 4,000 euros more than a 3008 with identical mechanics).
The two SUVs share the same hybrid system, which combines a three-cylinder gasoline engine 1.2 136 hp Puretech with a 29 hp electric motor and 55 Nm of torque. This last propellant is fed by the energy stored by a small 0.4 kWh battery. And yes, you can move in 100% electric mode for a while, not much: up to one km if you do not exceed 30 km/h. Perfect to move the car at low speed in the city (where any combustion engine is very inefficient) and assist the gasoline engine in strong acceleration.
All this is managed through an e-DCS6 automatic gearbox, a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and it is in its casing that the electric motor has been integrated. Sends power to the front wheels (no all-wheel drive possible).
Why choose it over a gasoline engine exclusively? Well, because consumption is reduced by 15% under homologation conditions (they remain at 5.7 l/100 km) and CO2 emissions are reduced by 21 g/km, up to 129 g/km. It is almost exempt from paying the registration tax.
The brand announces that they can be chosen in three finishes:
- Active Pack: In all of them they have Eco LED headlights, 17-inch wheels, climate control, electric and heated exterior rear-view mirrors, rear proximity sensors, base multimedia system, push-button start, cruise control with involuntary lane change warning…
- Allure Pack: adds longitudinal aluminum roof bars, 18-inch wheels, 3D Connected navigation, Safety Plus Pack, keyless access and start or the children’s pack, among others.
- GT: It boasts 18-inch Detroit Black Onyx diamond-cut alloy wheels, GT badging, Full LED headlights with automatic tone correction, static cornering function, fog mode and LED daytime running lights with integrated turn signals, Sport Drive pack or aluminum pedals.
