Electrification is increasingly present in the automotive sector. stellantis It is currently one of the clear protagonists, as they have more and more products with this technology in all their brands. Until now, they applied it on the CMP and EMP2 platforms, although there is more to come. A new generation of electrics has been announced with improved performance thanks to the STLA Medium platform. It will serve to give life to medium-sized products and will arrive with almost twice the autonomy.
Although not all the details have been given yet, we are talking about a modular architecture that can be used by cars of segments C and D. They are compact and medium, which account for almost half of sales. The idea is that all Stellantis cars of that size use it in the future, since there are currently 26 copies of different brands on various platforms. They claim to have a production capacity of up to two millionvehicular per year on several car floors with this STLA Medium.
Although the truth is that the STLA Medium is only the first of fourplatforms global utilities that Stellantis has prepared. It will probably be the most important by volume and also by capacities, since it promises in its cars around 700 kilometers of autonomy. That would be with a Performance pack, although with the Standard pack it would already exceed 500 kilometers. That is possible thanks to batteries of up to 98 kWh and a 400 volt electrical architecture. Consumption of 14 kWh/100km and really fast charges are calculated.
Nothing has been said yet about the cars that will incorporate it, but we can get an idea. Are included cars, crossovers and SUVs between 4.3 and 4.9 meters; Well, the wheelbase can be between 2.7 and 2.9 meters. They may be front-wheel drive and there will also be versions with all-wheel drive thanks to a second rear electric motor. In any case, the powers will move between 218 and 387 CV. At a dynamic level they will stand out for their position of the batteries and for their high rigidity.
It seems that the STLA family of platforms, which are the Small, Medium, Large and Frame; will mark the roadmap for Stellantis for the next decade. However, the conglomerate has further plans and talks about the STLA Brain, STLA SmartCockpit and STLA AutoDrive architectures to improve technologically. Furthermore, they are all designed for future chemical batteriesincluding nickel- and cobalt-free and solid-state batteries.
