NIO continues with its product offensive and with the expansion into Europe. The Chinese brand specializing in electrics already has interesting models here, such as the ET5 and ET7, although things are not going to stop there. A specimen has already been announced that could be very interesting due to its characteristics. The CHILD EC7 It is a coupe SUV that could reach our continent during the second half of next year 2023, since its launch in China is confirmed for the month of May.
It is a specimen that measures 4968mm long, so we could frame it in the segment of large SUVs. It shares a design language with other models of the brand, starting with a very fluid front with divided headlights that have LED technology and are capable of executing projections. On the roof it has some protrusions to channel the air (and integrate the LiDAR), since the NIO EC7 wants to be the more aerodynamic SUV of the segment. In fact, it achieves a coefficient of just 0.23 Cx.
That is also thanks to that drop from the ceiling or the drop down rear spoiler with active technology. They influence their rear-view mirrors or that the door handles are flush with the body. In addition to seeking that efficiency, the NIO EC7 also boasts a spacious interior. It is very bright thanks to the generous glazed areaalthough its crystal Intelligent electrochromic adapts the passage of light, the seats are truly ergonomic and have electrical adjustments as standard.
In addition, the technology is up to par, as it equips the NIO Smart System Banyan. That means you get new software and almost everything is controlled from one 12.8-inch AMOLED center screen that is tactile and that is integrated between the dashboard and the center console. There is also a digital instrumentation and even a 16-inch Head-Up Display in color. The atmosphere is rounded off by 256-colour ambient lighting and a 23-speaker Dirac Pro sound system.
The NIO EC7 has two electric motors, one on each axle to achieve all-wheel drive, which combine to reach a maximum power of 653 hp (480 kW) and 850 Nm of torque. In its top-of-the-range version, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, so it will be quite performance-oriented. It is also offered with different battery sizes to suit different needs. With the 75 kWh it can reach 490 kilometers of autonomy, with the 100 kWh it could do 635 kilometers and with the 150 kWh it announces a autonomy of up to 940 kilometers.
We are talking about provisional figures and with the chinese test cycle, CLTC, which is different from our WLTP. In any case, there are great expectations around this NIO EC7, which could reach Europe at the end of 2023. In China it is announced with prices starting from 478,000 Chinese yuan, about 64,218 euros to the current change.
