The technical inspections of vehicles, better known as ITV, are used to verify that all cars are in good condition to circulate Safely. Is starting next May 20 when the latest revision of the ITV Procedure Manual, version 7.7.0, enters into force. This translates into the introduction of some corrections and, above all, of the two new procedures that are included in the inspection. In any case, it must be said that nothing changes for the user. The person driving the car will not have to take any additional action at the station. Qualified personnel will evaluate the emergency call system (eCall) and the OBFCM (On-Board Fuel Consumption Meter) data collection.
The eCall system has been mandatory on new vehicles since 2018. This means that many of them will undergo their first MOT this year. And you will have to start checking periodically that works correctly. It is something key to continue reducing the number of fatalities on the road, so the inspections will prove that you can contact the emergency services.
Reference is also made to OBFCM data collection, something that will only serve to establish strategies from the point of view of road safety, taking into account the actual operation of the cars. The data is collected anonymously and it will not prevent any vehicle from passing the ITV due to this aspect. In fact, they will be eliminated by the station once they have been reported to the competent authority. The cars that will be measured are passenger cars registered as of January 2021, including pure combustion, conventional hybrids and plug-in hybrids.
Another modification that has nothing to do with it. From now on you are allowed to install anti-sun adhesive films on the front windshield to people who have an illness related to UV exposure. Previously it was only allowed for those diagnosed with lupus, but now it is accept other diseases. In any case, the sheets must be approved and their installation duly justified.
