The Hungarian Grand Prix was a reality check for Aston Martin. The British promised to be strong on the Hungaroring circuit, favorable for its characteristics, but on the track they only managed to be ninth and tenth.
A new reality that they have to assume in the British team. There has been a clear drop in performance, but for Fernando Alonso these results are a great learning experience for the team.
In an interview with ‘As’, the Asturian highlighted that learning from the results is a factor: “You have to learn from mistakes, grow as a team and try to improve. I like teams where when Sunday ends and we go back in time and it was Thursday, they write down what would have been done differently and what the other teams have done.”
The drop in performance of the green car is clear, but for Alonso those results came surprisingly soon: “This year is a year of learning very good for Aston Martin because we have found a car above what we thought in terms of performance and We are not yet a team to be in the Champions League“.
“We need more resources here, less there, perhaps a different rate of evolution. We need to strengthen the team in certain areas to be as big as Ferrari, Mercedes or Red Bull. It’s a very interesting year in that regard, We can still grow as a team twice as fast. than we thought thanks to the fact that the car is so strong”, he concluded.
