In three races, Ferrari has yet to reach the podium. Neither Charles Leclerc or Carlos Sainz they have achieved it. They are the fourth team behind Red Bull, Aston Martin and Mercedes. And in Maranello they continue to work to change the course and get closer to the lead again. Although it is not easy.
In statements collected by ‘SoyMotor’, Sainz has put the batteries to his own: “You have to work hard at the factory in Maranellobring improvements to return to the podium and fight for victory…”.
“The truth is that it has not been an easy start to the season. Everyone at Ferrari expected much more.. After having been fighting for pole positions and victories last year, I think we have gone to the races with that intention”, commented the Madrid driver.
It recognizes that Red Bull is in another league, with max verstappen as the outstanding leader of the classification: “It is true that, with the advantage that Red Bull has right now, we are going to have to improve a lot if we want to be in the fight for victory…”.
“That does not mean that in any race something can happen to the Red Bulls Aston Martin and we can sneak in first, but for now we are going to need their help and we will have to operate on what we have”, says Sainz.
He does not give up anything. The world championship has just started and many things can change from Baku: “I keep going to all the races thinking that, until it is mathematically possible, we have to try to win races, maximize the points and improve, which is what we have started in these early races.”
“If we hadn’t had the Australian sanction, now we would have another twelve important pointswhich in the end they don’t let me add, but it is what it is”, Sainz completed.
