The registrations of new cars in Spain registered in May 92,025 units enrolled. The six digits are not reached, but it represents a growth of 8.3% compared to May 2022 and with this there are already five months improving the data of the previous year, although at a lower rate than previous months.

There is no radical decrease in the emissions of the vehicles sold, since the average emissions of CO2 from new cars sold in May remain at 117.4 grams of CO2 per km (3.7% less than a year ago in 2022. During 2023, emissions are 118.7 g/km, 1.61 % less.
In May all channels registered sales increases. Above all, rent and companies, which are driven by the figures. Sales to individuals have not yet taken off and are still a third below the rate prior to the pandemic:

From the employers’ association of manufacturers, Anfac, they indicate that the data so far can mean that the end of the year is around 950,000 units, “25,000 more than the most optimistic forecast we had in January.” They also point out that uncertainty about what type of car to buy is still latent and that “the call for general elections that usually paralyzes economic activity.”
The dealers point out that “we maintain the feeling that the recovery is being very slow… due to a lower purchasing power on the part of families.” For its part, Ganvam, an association of sellers, applauds the moderation of inflation and emphasizes something that the majority agrees on: “buyers continue to need, and now more than ever, economic and technological certainty, as well as access to a more affordable mobility.
Best selling makes and models
During the month of May, the brand that registered the most cars was Toyota, with 7,842 units. Peugeot and Renault follow. In the accumulated of the year, the Japanese brand is also the most sold, followed by Peugeot, Seat and Kia.
In the model ranking, the Dacia Sandero is the car that registered the most sales, with the Renault Clio and the Peugeot 208 far behind. They are the only three models capable of exceeding 2,000 units. Watch out for the MG ZS, which is already very well placed.
