Despite the fact that today they are the true kings of the market throughout the world, there are those who still like cars with SUV bodies between little and nothing. So much so that a group of activists calling themselves the Tire Extinguishers (tire fire extinguishers) that have already traveled eight different countries. Its objective? put an end to the SUVs and get them out of the cities once and for all. And his modus operandi? Deflate the tires of every SUV you see parked on a street. It may seem more like a small child’s misdeed, but the truth is that, according to their official website -yes, they have a website-, since last March they have managed to “disable” more than 10,000 SUVs.
Is an SUV or a family car better?
As they themselves describe, their most important action to date took place on November 28 and 29. In both days they managed to deflate the tires of 900 SUVs in 19 cities of eight different countries, including cities such as New York, Zurich or Amsterdam, among others. “Without a doubt, we are talking about the largest coordinated global action against vehicles with the highest carbon content in history… and many more to come,” they warn.
