The two F1 teams that have opposed the arrival of new teams

Formula 1 continues with its expansion plan and new teams could join the current ten. However, two teams that are on the grid have been opposed. This was stated by the president of the FIA, Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

These teams are Red Bull and Haas. “We cannot say yes or no to the big teams. I understand their concern. We are also worried…”, the president commented in statements to ‘Grand Prix 247’.

“A tender has been opened, but there are still regulations in place, so we cannot say no and close the application. Neither say no to new teams that want to reach F1 if they meet the candidacy criteria”, detailed Ben Sulayem.

He does not want a closed Formula 1: “We have six brands. If more enter, we will have a more accessible sport and lower engine prices. F1 is not a closed circuit. It has to be open to the big teams. Before there was only one or two bikers. Now there are six. I’m happy with how things are going.”

“The position of some teams, but they also have to understand ours. But in no way let’s break the rules“, has sentenced the president of the FIA, who does want new teams on the grid of the Great Circus.

From 2026

Hitech GPwhich already has several teams in the lower categories, has confirmed that it has submitted a candidacy to enter the competition.
