Can Mercedes fight again max verstappen? In 2022 the team experienced a real nightmare, especially with what is known as ‘porpoising’ and its two drivers were very far from the Red Bulls during all the weekends.
This Thursday the first day of the pre-season tests was held in Bahrain and the silver arrows were able to complete a total of 152 laps without problems, only behind Verstappen’s Red Bull (Sergio Perez will hit the track on Friday).
AND Toto Wolffhead of Mercedes, has celebrated having left the rebound behind: “no reboundswhich is good news, except for the bump at the end of the straight.”
“It’s a good starting point, we are collecting a lot of data, because it was important to correlate it after last year, and we are trying different things,” said the Austrian.
And unlike last year, with the absolutely disastrous start, now Mercedes can work without complications: “I think we now have a solid foundation on which to work and try to optimize the car, which we haven’t done yet.”
“It’s about finding out if there are areas that could be an obstacle to performance, like last year with the rebound. Now we just have to work on the program,” Wolff said.
Hamilton has been the first of the Mercedes, in the sixth place six tenths behind Verstappen. Russell, ninthhe was 1.3 seconds behind the Dutch Red Bull driver.
